About the Owners
Rick is originally from St. Joseph, MO. He spent the first 18 years of his life in the Show-Me State before he went off to serve our Country. After putting in almost 11 years in the US Navy, he settled in San Diego, CA for a little over 17 years before moving to Charleston, SC. He met Kim just after moving there and they were married the next year.
Kim grew up on a small farm in Western New York. She left NY in 1996 to pursue her career goals and finish college and after living in many locations along the East Coast, Kim settled in Charleston, SC in 2000. She met Rick a few years later at work and they quickly fell in love.
Rick and Kim purchased their first horse together as an engagement present to each other; she was a Standard Bred mare. Due to some previous surgeries and injuries, the bumpy ride was very uncomfortable for both Kim and Rick, so they decided to sell her and look for a gaited horse. Someone turned them on to the Missouri Fox Trotter and after the first few minutes in the saddle they were hooked. When they were married, they developed a 5 year plan to buy a farm where they could have their horses with them instead of having to board them at a local stable. After the first year, they decided to take the plunge and buy the farm early so they could spend more time with the horses. So they put their house on the golf course up for sale and purchased their dream ranch. It’s been a lot of hard work, but they have both been having the time of their life.
