Bootylicious

April 8, 2005 - January 24, 2007

Booty passed away on 1/24/07 from pleural pneumonia; just 4 days after being shipped from MO. Please, when you are hauling horses, check their temperature and heart rates regularly and be sure to stop and give them a rest and water at least every 8 hours (2-4 if they are younger). Don't EVER tie a horse's head too tight when you are shipping so they cannot get their head down to cough and get rid of fluid in their lungs. Having the ability to naturally drain fluids is a vital function for them. ALWAYS do a thorough health exam before travel and insist that your vet take temperature and heart rates. Try to stop and give them a break, give them some water, and let them get out and move around if it is safe to do so. Booty's passing could have been prevented. Getting somewhere faster isn't as important as getting there with a healthy horse!
